Taghreed Darghouth

Lebanon

Taghreed Darghouth (born 1979, Saida, Lebanon) is a contemporary Lebanese artist recognized for her thought-provoking paintings that explore social, political, and existential themes. Working primarily in oil on canvas, Darghouth’s practice is characterized by a figurative style that often incorporates elements of realism and symbolism. Her subjects range from domestic objects and everyday scenes to more charged topics such as war, migration, and the female body, reflecting her engagement with both personal and collective narratives.

Darghouth has exhibited widely in the Middle East and internationally. Notable institutional exhibitions include solo shows at Agial Art Gallery in Beirut and participation in group exhibitions at the Beirut Exhibition Center and the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris. Her work has also been featured in significant regional surveys of contemporary Arab art. In addition to her institutional presence, Darghouth’s paintings have appeared at major auction houses, including sales at Christie’s Dubai, where her works have attracted attention from collectors seeking contemporary Middle Eastern art.

Based in Beirut, Taghreed Darghouth continues to contribute to the Lebanese and broader Arab art scenes through her evocative and socially engaged practice. Her work is held in private and public collections, underscoring her position as a significant voice in contemporary Lebanese painting.
