Buying a piece
Frequently Asked Questions
Buying a piece
There is no cart or checkout on Artsamy. Every artwork page offers one of two actions — Inquire about this piece if the piece has an estimated price range, or Request Price & Availability if it is listed Price on request. Either opens a short form. A specialist on our team responds within twelve hours with the final price, shipping options, and payment instructions.
Prices in the fine-art market vary by destination, by shipping and framing, and by buyer relationship. A range gives you a working number; the conversation confirms the final total. This is convention at the top of the art market and it lets us handle each sale personally rather than through an automated checkout.
Yes. There is a field on the inquiry form where you can propose an amount — either for one piece or for a shortlist of several. The gallery has 48 hours to accept, counter, or decline. Around a third of Artsamy sales close at a negotiated price.
You are welcome. Start with the Why/How to be a Collector page for orientation, or write to collect@artsamy.com with what interests you. First-time buyers are treated with the same care as established collectors; we are glad to walk you through the process.
Uncommon but possible. We respond in the order we receive requests. If a piece becomes unavailable while your inquiry is in flight, we let you know within hours and offer two or three close alternatives from the same artist or in a similar register.
Payment
International bank transfer (SWIFT), Stripe payment links for credit and debit cards.Bank transfer is preferred for amounts over USD 5,000.
USD is the default display currency. Other regional currencies (JOD, AED, EUR, GBP, SAR) can be shown for reference. The final invoice specifies the currency of payment, which is typically the seller of record's preferred currency.
no — case by case, with the gallery's approval we can split the payment into 3 payments. Standard plan: thirty percent on confirmation, forty percent mid-term, thirty percent on dispatch. The piece does not ship until paid in full. Plans are documented in writing before payment begins.
Payment is due when the sale is confirmed, before the piece dispatches. You will receive an invoice or a payment link once shipping and total are agreed.
Shipping & delivery
Yes, worldwide, through specialist fine-art logistics partners. Every shipment is insured door-to-door at declared value.
Museum-standard packing — custom crating where required, climate consideration for sensitive media, tamper-evident sealing. We use specialist art shippers for pieces over USD 1,500.
Standard dispatch is three to five business days from cleared payment (longer if framing is included). Regional transit within MENA is seven to twenty-one days. International transit is fourteen to thirty days depending on destination. We quote conservatively and often deliver sooner.
You receive a tracking link from our carrier the moment the piece dispatches. If tracking updates go quiet or a delivery is delayed, write to collect@artsamy.com and we chase it directly.
Cross-border shipments may incur customs duty in the destination country. This is the buyer's responsibility. We estimate expected duty and surface it to you before the sale confirms — nothing is buried at delivery.
Authenticity & guarantee
Every piece is provenance-checked before listing. We confirm attribution with the seller of record — the gallery, the artist, or (for the Sami Hindiyeh Collection) our own records — and, where required, with independent specialists.
Yes. Every sale ships with a Certificate of Authenticity issued by Artsamy, alongside the seller's condition report and any care notes the medium requires.
We commission a third-party assessment by a specialist in the artist's period or medium, at our cost. There is no time limit on this. If the piece is found to be inauthentic, we issue a full refund and cover all reasonable buyer costs. Full detail on Our Guarantee.
Every artwork page lists the gallery of record, the year the piece was acquired into the seller's holdings, and any prior ownership where relevant and disclosable. We do not list pieces with broken or unverifiable provenance.
Returns & cancellations
Up to the moment the piece dispatches, yes — cancellation is permitted with a full refund. Reply to any email in your sale conversation and let us know.
Returns are accepted within seven days of delivery where a piece materially differs from what was described or photographed, arrives damaged in transit, or authenticity is credibly challenged. Write to collect@artsamy.com within the seven-day window.
Write to collect@artsamy.com within seven days of delivery with photographs. We arrange independent assessment where needed.
Account & preferences
No. Every artwork page, every artist and gallery profile, and all editorial content is visible without signing in. An account is required only to save pieces to your shortlist or your wishlist, or to submit an inquiry as a returning buyer.
The heart icon on any artwork page adds it to your saved pieces — a private wishlist for browsing later, no purchase intent implied. The shortlist is the group of pieces you want pricing and availability on, which you submit together as an inquiry. Think of it as: the heart is for looking; the shortlist is for asking.
Sign in and open your account settings. Contact details, shipping addresses, and communication preferences can all be updated there.
Every email we send has a one-click unsubscribe at the foot. You can also open your account and switch to a quieter monthly cadence, or unsubscribe entirely without deleting your account.
Write to privacy@artsamy.com and we will process the deletion within seven business days.
Galleries, writers, and museums
Read the Artsamy for Galleries page first — it explains the model, the commission structure, and the buyer-of-record clause. Then write to partnerships@artsamy.com and we will set up a call.
The Work with us page has the application address, the categories we commission (artist features, collection stories, regional context, market analysis, gallery and event coverage, critic essays), and what to include with your application.
Use the Artsamy for Events submission form. Listings appear within one business day, and selected shows also receive editorial coverage.
Yes — the Artsamy for Events form covers gallery shows, museum exhibitions, art fairs, biennales, openings, talks, and panels.
