Nawal Al Sa'adoon, born in Baghdad in 1957, is an Iraqi artist whose work spans painting, printmaking, and installation art. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest in 1980 and has since developed a distinctive style that blends expressionism and abstraction. Her art often delves into themes of sorrow, displacement, and the human condition, reflecting her personal experiences and the broader socio-political landscape of Iraq.

Throughout her career, Al Sa'adoon has exhibited extensively across the Middle East and Europe. Notable exhibitions include a solo show in Damascus titled "For the Last Time in Damascus," which showcased works from her graduation project in 1980 up to 2023.
