United Kingdom

Peter van Poppel, born in Utrecht in 1945, is a prominent Dutch painter associated with the Utrecht School. He studied at the School voor de Grafische Vakken in his hometown, where he developed a distinctive style characterized by figures with childlike features set against everyday scenes imbued with elements of fantasy. His works often pay subtle homage to masters like Carel Fabritius and Rembrandt van Rijn through the use of subdued colors and meticulous attention to detail.

Van Poppel's paintings have been showcased in numerous exhibitions, including Art Breda and Galerie Lieve Hemel in Amsterdam. His works are also part of the European Parliament's contemporary art collection. In the art market, his pieces have achieved notable success, with auction prices ranging from $96 to $9,319, the latter being the record price for his work "Totemuseum," sold at Adams Amsterdam Auctions in 2022.
