Thuraya Al-Baqsami (ثريا البقصمي), born in 1952 in Kuwait, is a prominent Kuwaiti artist and writer recognized for her significant contributions to contemporary Arab art. Working across painting, printmaking, and illustration, Al-Baqsami’s practice is distinguished by its vibrant color palettes and expressive, often narrative-driven compositions. Her works frequently explore themes of identity, womanhood, and cultural heritage, drawing on personal and collective histories within the Gulf region. Al-Baqsami is also known for her literary output, having published several books and illustrated stories, further cementing her influence in both visual and literary arts.

Al-Baqsami’s art has been exhibited widely in reputable institutions, including the Sharjah Art Museum and the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha, as well as in numerous international biennials and group exhibitions across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.
