Iraq

Thamer Daoud, born in Baghdad in 1966, is an Iraqi artist known for his work in painting and graphic arts. He earned a Diploma in Painting from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad in 1986 and later obtained a Bachelor's degree in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad in 2000. Daoud is a member of several professional organizations, including the Iraqi Artists Syndicate, the Iraqi Plastic Artists Association, the Iraqi Calligraphers Association, the Association of Iraqi Artists in the USA and Canada, and the Iraqi Canadian Artists Association.

Throughout his career, Daoud has held multiple solo exhibitions, starting with his first at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad in 1986. He has showcased his work internationally, with exhibitions at Gallery Darbouna in Amman, Jordan (2006, 2008), Longwood Gallery in Pennsylvania, USA (2008), Studio 7 Arts in Delaware, USA (2008), Pomegranate Gallery in New York, USA (2009), and Rosenfeld Gallery in Philadelphia, USA (2010). His participation in group exhibitions is extensive, including annual exhibitions at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad (1982–1986), the Iraqi Youth Art Exhibition at the Arts Center in Baghdad (1999, 2000), and various international venues such as the Iraqi Graphic Art Exhibition in Damascus, Syria (2004), and the Arab Contemporary Art Exhibition in Osaka, Japan (2007).

Daoud's artistic style is characterized by a symbolic approach that draws upon Iraq's rich heritage, blending traditional elements with contemporary techniques. His work often reflects a deep connection to his cultural roots, exploring themes that resonate with both historical and modern contexts.
