Taha Ashmawy, born on December 10, 1965, in Shubra El Kheima, Egypt, is a distinguished visual artist specializing in graphic design. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cairo University in 1990 and has pursued further studies in decoration and computer graphics. Ashmawy is an active member of several art organizations, including the Fine Artists Syndicate, the European Union of Cartoonists (FICO), the Cairo Atelier, the National Society for Arts, the Ghouri Artists Association, and the Asala Association. Throughout his career, Ashmawy has held numerous solo exhibitions, notably at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo (1990), the Cairo Atelier Gallery (1994), and in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (1997). His 2021 exhibition titled "Absence" at the Mahmoud Mukhtar Cultural Center in Cairo received acclaim for its innovative approach to graphic art, reflecting on societal themes and the void left by diminishing values. Critics have praised his ability to elevate his work to an international standard through unconventional techniques and a commitment to modernizing traditional subjects. In addition to his exhibitions, Ashmawy has contributed significantly to the art community through various roles. He has served as an art specialist at the National Center for Fine Arts since 1993 and was seconded to Saudi Arabia to work with the Heritage Agency and Al-Firdous Press. Currently, he is the Director General of Protocol and Creativity Houses at Al-Ghoury Agency. His dedication to the arts and his innovative contributions have solidified his reputation as a leading figure in contemporary Egyptian graphic art.
