Syria

Suheil Baddor, born in Latakia, Syria, in 1957, is a distinguished artist whose career spans over four decades, encompassing painting, sculpture, poetry, and art criticism. He studied philosophy and art at Damascus University, where he was mentored by prominent Syrian artists such as Fateh Moudarres and Nasir Shura. Baddor's artistic journey is marked by a prolific output of over five thousand works, characterized by a fusion of expressionism, abstraction, and elements of surrealism. His creations often explore themes of waiting, with recurring motifs of women and musical instruments, reflecting his deep connection to his cultural heritage and personal experiences.

Throughout his career, Baddor has held more than thirty-five solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows across the globe. Notable exhibitions include his participation in the Sharjah International Biennial and the Luxor International Studio. His works are part of permanent collections in institutions such as the Sharjah Museum and the Ministry of Culture in Syria. Baddor has also been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Golden Palm in Colorado, USA, and the "Al-Adasa" Golden Award for Arts and Architecture in Egypt.

In addition to his visual art, Baddor has contributed to the literary field with publications like "Another Form of Melancholy" (1986) and "Joys of a Burning Heart" (1989). His dedication to art education is evident through his teaching roles and workshops conducted internationally. Baddor's works are held in private and public collections across countries including Austria, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Australia, Egypt, Syria, the UAE, and the USA, underscoring his significant impact on the global art scene.
