Egypt, b. 1967

Sayed Kandil, born in 1967, is an Egyptian artist renowned for his contributions to graphic arts, particularly in printmaking and lithography. A graduate of Helwan University's Faculty of Fine Arts in 1990, he furthered his studies with a master's degree in 1995 and a doctorate in 1998, focusing on expressionist art and its roots. Kandil's work is characterized by expressive and surreal elements, often drawing inspiration from nature and human forms. His mastery of various printmaking techniques, including woodcut and lithography, showcases his dedication to the craft.

Throughout his career, Kandil has held numerous solo exhibitions, starting with his debut in Mansoura in 1987. He has showcased his art in esteemed venues such as the Akhenaton Gallery and the Gezira Art Center in Cairo. Internationally, his work has been displayed in Italy, France, and Poland, among other countries. Notably, his 2014 exhibition "Thawrat Wogoh" ("Revolution of Faces") captured the transformations in Egypt post the January 25 Revolution, reflecting his engagement with contemporary societal themes.

In addition to his artistic endeavors, Kandil has held significant academic and administrative positions.
