Iraq

Samira Abd Al Wahab, born in Baghdad in 1944, is a distinguished Iraqi artist known for her contributions to the country's modern art scene. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Administration and Economics from the University of Baghdad and a Diploma in Painting from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad. Her artistic journey is characterized by a transition from floral depictions to abstract representations of the female form, reflecting a deep engagement with themes of femininity and identity.

Throughout her career, Abd Al Wahab has participated in numerous exhibitions both in Iraq and internationally. Notable showcases include her solo exhibition "Paradise Lost" at the Baghdad Art Gallery in 1988 and her participation in the "Eyes of Arabia" exhibition in Sharjah in 2000. She has also exhibited in cities such as Cairo, Paris, and Athens, contributing to the global appreciation of Iraqi art. In 2005, she established the Baghdad Cultural Salon in Amman, Jordan, fostering cultural dialogue among artists and intellectuals.

In addition to her artistic endeavors, Abd Al Wahab has held significant administrative roles, including serving as the Director of the Baghdad Art Gallery and the National Museum of Modern Art. She has been an active member of various art associations, such as the Iraqi Artists Association and the General Union of Arab Plastic Artists. Currently, she divides her time between Sweden, Baghdad, and Amman, continuing to create art that bridges her rich cultural heritage with contemporary experiences.
