Egypt

Sameh El Banani (1945–2020) was an Egyptian painter renowned for his vivid depictions of rural and urban Egyptian life. Born in Cairo on December 13, 1945, he earned his Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in 1969, followed by a Master's in 1975, and a Doctorate from Rome, Italy, in 1979. El Banani's artistic lineage was distinguished; his father, Hosni El Banani, and maternal grandfather, Youssef Kamel, were both prominent figures in Egypt's art scene. El Banani's oeuvre is characterized by a deep appreciation for Egypt's landscapes and cultural heritage. He had a particular affinity for depicting palm trees and agricultural settings, reflecting his connection to the Egyptian countryside.
