Egypt, b. 1957

Salah Al-Meligy, born on February 7, 1957, in Suez, Egypt, is a distinguished visual artist specializing in graphic arts. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Graphic Arts from Helwan University in 1980, followed by a Master's in 1988 and a Ph.D. in 1993, focusing on the portrayal of mythical themes in graphic art.

Al-Meligy's artistic oeuvre is characterized by a blend of expressive abstraction and mythological motifs, often employing techniques such as acrylic painting, ink drawing, and relief printing. His works delve into themes of energy and cosmic order, reflecting a deep engagement with both personal and universal narratives.

Throughout his career, Al-Meligy has held numerous solo exhibitions, including shows at Akhenaton Gallery in 1989 and 1996, and at the Mahmoud Mokhtar Cultural Center in 2008. His 2017 exhibition "Buzzing" at Zamalek Art Gallery showcased 70 pieces exploring the metaphorical resonance of buzzing sounds in human consciousness. In addition to his artistic practice, Al-Meligy has contributed significantly to the Egyptian art scene through various administrative roles, notably serving as the Head of the Fine Arts Sector from 2011 to 2014.
