Iraq

Saddam Jumaily (صدام الجميلي) is a contemporary Iraqi artist, born in Basra in 1974. He is recognized for his evocative paintings that blend surrealism and symbolism, often exploring themes of displacement, memory, and the human condition. Jumaily’s work is characterized by a distinctive use of color and form, frequently depicting solitary figures and dreamlike landscapes that reflect both personal and collective narratives shaped by Iraq’s turbulent history.

Jumaily has exhibited widely in the Middle East and internationally, with notable institutional exhibitions including shows at the Sharjah Art Museum and the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts. His paintings have also been featured in group exhibitions at prominent venues such as the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris. On the secondary market, Jumaily’s works have appeared at major auction houses, including Christie’s Dubai, where his paintings have attracted attention from collectors of modern and contemporary Middle Eastern art.

Currently based in Amman, Jordan, Saddam Jumaily continues to develop his practice, contributing to the discourse on Iraqi art in exile. His work is held in several public and private collections, affirming his position as a significant figure in contemporary Iraqi art.
