Sabah Naim is an Egyptian artist renowned for her mixed-media works that explore the dynamics of urban life in Cairo. Her artistic process often begins with photographing or filming individuals in public settings, which she then enlarges to life-size or greater, printing them in black-and-white on paper or canvas. These decontextualized portraits are sometimes hand-colored, collaged with rolled-up newspapers, or adorned with hand-painted motifs such as circles, dots, and arabesques. Naim's work reflects themes of modernization and globalization in urban Egypt, raising questions about cultural binaries like masculine and feminine, contemporary and traditional, religious and secular, and fine arts and handicrafts.

Naim has exhibited internationally, including at the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003, the Havana Biennial in 2003, and the touring exhibition "Africa Remix: Contemporary Art of a Continent" in 2004. Her works are part of the permanent collections of the British Museum in London, the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, and the Museum of Modern Egyptian Art in Cairo. She has also held solo exhibitions at Lia Rumma Gallery in Naples, Italy, in 2007, and at B21 Gallery in Dubai in 2008.

Born in Cairo, Naim's art is deeply influenced by the city's bustling streets and the anonymous individuals who inhabit them. Through her innovative use of photography, painting, and collage, she captures the essence of urban life, inviting viewers to reconsider the everyday scenes and people that often go unnoticed.
