About the work

A profile portrait of a woman wearing a large hat constructed from stone brickwork gazes into a dark, ambiguous space beneath a vivid coral-orange sky. A small red flower at her ear and flowing blue-grey hair contrast with the austere geometric architecture surrounding her, lending the composition an eerie, dreamlike tension.

Roya Raouf (Iraq).
