Rima Almazayyen

Palestine, b. 1977

Rima Al-Mazayyen, also known as Rima Al-Mazin, is a Palestinian visual artist renowned for her symbolic abstract style that intricately weaves elements of Palestinian heritage and identity into her work. Born into a family deeply rooted in the arts, she was mentored by her father, Abdul Rahman Al-Mazin, a pioneer in the Palestinian art scene. This early exposure profoundly influenced her artistic journey, instilling a commitment to using art as a medium for cultural expression and political commentary.

Throughout her career, Al-Mazayyen has participated in numerous exhibitions across Europe and the Middle East. In 2013, she was awarded the title of "Best Artist" at the International Art Exhibition held in the Royal Palace of Castellammare di Stabia, Naples, Italy. The following year, she secured the first prize in painting at the 2014 Rome Biennale, distinguishing herself among 172 participating artists. Her solo exhibitions, such as "Bil Falastini" in 2013 and "Presence and Absence" in 2014, have been showcased in esteemed venues, including the Porta Coeli Gallery in Italy.

Al-Mazayyen's works have been acquired by notable institutions, including the Jordanian Museum of Fine Arts, which added her painting "The Child Bride" to its collection in December 2014. Her art continues to resonate globally, reflecting the complexities of Palestinian identity and the broader human experience.
