Nouri Bahjat Hekmat (نوري بهجت حكمت) was a prominent Iraqi artist, recognized for his significant contributions to modern Iraqi art. Born in Baghdad in 1917, Hekmat was among the early generation of Iraqi artists who played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s artistic identity in the 20th century. He studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad and later continued his education in Rome, which influenced his artistic approach and technique. Hekmat was known for his versatility, working across painting and sculpture, and his style often reflected a synthesis of Iraqi heritage with modernist sensibilities.

Throughout his career, Nouri Bahjat Hekmat participated in several notable exhibitions, both in Iraq and internationally.
