Jordan

Nawal Abdullah, born in Amman in 1951, is a prominent Jordanian artist known for her abstract landscapes and figures. She began her artistic training under Muhanna Durra before graduating from the Florence Academy of Art in 1979. Since 1974, Abdullah has exhibited her work in solo and group shows across Jordan, the Arab world, Europe, the U.K., and Canada. Her paintings are characterized by harmonious, flowing brushstrokes and vibrant colors, reflecting a continuous journey of self-discovery.

Abdullah's work often draws inspiration from the Jordanian landscape, capturing the emotional and spiritual energies of mountains, seas, valleys, and deserts. In her 2023 exhibition "Meditations" at Wadi Finan Art Gallery, she presented a series of abstract pieces that conveyed a sense of clarity and awakening through bountiful colors and deep internal self-reflection. She has also participated in exhibitions at Nabad Art Gallery and the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts.

As a member of the International Women's Forum (Jordan Chapter) and the International Forum for a Culture of Peace by Mediterranean Women Creators, Abdullah remains an active figure in the art community. She continues to live and work in Amman, where her art serves as a medium for exploring the spiritual and intimate aspects of the human experience.
