Naem Ismail (نعيم إسماعيل, also transliterated as Naeem Ismail) was a prominent Syrian painter born in 1930 and active until his passing in 1979. Recognized as one of the pioneering figures in modern Syrian art, Ismail was instrumental in shaping the country’s visual arts scene during the mid-20th century. He specialized primarily in painting, working with oil on canvas and other traditional mediums, and was known for his expressive, often abstracted depictions of Syrian life and landscapes.
