Jordan

Nadia Makdah is a Jordanian artist known for her abstract paintings that delve into themes of cultural heritage and human experience. Her works often draw inspiration from ancient Bedouin tribes, particularly those from Jordan's northeastern desert regions dating back to 2000 BCE. This influence is evident in her use of motifs and symbols reminiscent of Safaitic inscriptions, named after the rocky terrain of the region.

Makdah has held four solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows both within Jordan and internationally. Her international exhibitions have taken place in countries such as Italy, Austria, Dubai, Algeria, Yemen, and Egypt's Sharm El Sheikh. Notably, her recent exhibition in Austria showcased works that reflect the culture and life of ancient Bedouin tribes, emphasizing their historical significance.

Beyond her artistic endeavors, Makdah is an advocate for women's rights and actively works to change societal perceptions of women in various fields. She believes in the inherent managerial capabilities of women, emphasizing their potential to lead both families and professional endeavors. Through her art and activism, Makdah strives to highlight the cultural richness of Jordan while promoting a more inclusive and equitable society.
