Egypt

Mohamed Nabil Mustafa Hassan, known professionally as Nabil Mustafa, is an Egyptian painter born on March 25, 1942, in Cairo. He earned his Bachelor's degree in oil painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts in 1968, followed by a Master's in 1976 and a Ph.D. in 1987. Mustafa's artistic journey is deeply influenced by ancient Egyptian art, particularly in his treatment of surfaces and the use of contemporary materials to achieve textures reminiscent of traditional techniques. His work often reflects the unique characteristics of the Egyptian environment, emphasizing local aesthetics in light, color, and texture.

Throughout his career, Mustafa has held several academic and administrative positions. He began as an assistant lecturer in the painting department at the Faculty of Fine Arts in 1968 and later served as a lecturer in Kuwait's Faculty of Basic Education from 1983 to 1987. In 1996, he was appointed director of the Mohamed Mahmoud Khalil Museum in Cairo. His contributions to art education include supervising numerous master's and doctoral theses, focusing on topics such as the revival of natural forms in Western painting and the expressive values in painted stone pieces.

Mustafa has showcased his work in various solo and group exhibitions. Notable solo exhibitions include his 1966 show at the House of Artists in Cairo and his 1998 exhibition titled "Leveling and Reliefing Tableaus" at the Faculty of Fine Arts. His works are part of private collections in Cairo, Kuwait, and Lebanon. In 1966, he received a prize from the Pioneers Exhibition, recognizing his contributions to the Egyptian art scene.
