Mustafa Abd al-Muti, born in 1938 in Alexandria, Egypt, is a distinguished painter and sculptor renowned for his abstract geometric style. His work intricately blends elements from ancient Egyptian and Ptolemaic art with contemporary motifs, often incorporating spheres, pyramids, and cubes alongside traditional folk symbols. This fusion reflects a philosophical and Sufi-inspired dialogue between form and the cosmic order, aiming to harmonize geometric structures with the universe's balance.

Abd al-Muti earned his bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University in 1962 and later obtained a doctorate from the Academy of San Fernando in Madrid in 1977. He co-founded the "Experimentalists" group in 1958 with fellow Alexandrian artists Said al-Adawi and Mahmoud Abdullah, focusing on innovative artistic expressions. Throughout his career, he has held numerous solo and group exhibitions both domestically and internationally, including in Italy, the United States, Bulgaria, Spain, and Kuwait. Notably, he served as the commissioner for the Egyptian pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2003 and was honored with the Nile Award for Arts in 2021.

In addition to his artistic endeavors, Abd al-Muti has significantly contributed to Egypt's cultural landscape. He established the Nile Gallery in 1984 and played a pivotal role in founding the Cairo International Biennale. His leadership extended to serving as the head of the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome from 1988 to 1996. His works continue to be celebrated for their profound exploration of the interplay between heritage and modernity, offering a unique perspective on the evolution of Egyptian art.
