Mona Ghraib

Egypt

Mona Gharib, born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1984, is a distinguished sculptor specializing in ceramic art. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University in 2006, followed by a Master's in 2009 and a Ph.D. in 2014, focusing on ceramic sculpture. Currently, she serves as an Associate Professor in the Sculpture Department at the same institution.

Gharib's artistic practice is deeply rooted in her Egyptian heritage, often exploring themes centered around the female form. Her works are characterized by expressive ceramic sculptures that reflect both contemporary aesthetics and traditional influences. She has held numerous solo exhibitions, including "أنا مصرية" ("I Am Egyptian") at the Museum of Modern Egyptian Art in Cairo in October 2023, which featured 43 ceramic pieces celebrating the beauty and strength of women. Additionally, her work has been showcased internationally, representing Egypt in art forums in Tunisia, Morocco, Taiwan, and Austria.

Throughout her career, Gharib has received multiple awards and honors, reflecting her significant contributions to the field of ceramic sculpture. Her pieces are part of esteemed collections, including the Museum of Modern Egyptian Art and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, as well as private collections in Canada, Finland, the Netherlands, Tunisia, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia.
