Syria

Mohammad Obaid, born in Damascus in 1966, is a Syrian painter renowned for his vivid depictions of old Damascus neighborhoods. His artistic journey began in childhood, leading to his first solo exhibition during his school years. Obaid pursued formal education at the Faculty of Fine Arts, where he refined his skills and developed a distinctive style.

In 1997, he held a significant solo exhibition at Ishtar Gallery, showcasing 36 works that captured the essence of Damascus's ancient quarters. Beyond his exhibitions, Obaid collaborated with the Ministry of Tourism on restoration projects in Old Damascus, reflecting his commitment to preserving the city's heritage. His work is characterized by a modern impressionistic approach, utilizing bright, expressive colors to convey the unique atmosphere of Damascus's historic streets and alleys.

Obaid is a member of the Syrian and Arab Artists Unions and has been considered for the presidency of the Arab Artists Union. His dedication to documenting and revitalizing Damascus's cultural legacy has established him as a prominent figure in the Syrian art scene.
