Mohammad Abla (محمد عبلة), born in 1953 in Belqas, Egypt, is a prominent contemporary Egyptian artist known for his dynamic engagement with painting, drawing, and mixed media. Abla’s work often explores themes of memory, social change, and the Egyptian landscape, rendered in expressive brushwork and vibrant color palettes. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Alexandria and later continued his artistic education in Europe, which influenced his stylistic development and broadened his international perspective.

Abla has exhibited extensively in major institutions, including the Egyptian Museum of Modern Art in Cairo, the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, and the Kunstmuseum in Bonn. His works have also been featured in significant group exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale and the Cairo Biennale, underscoring his status in both regional and global art scenes. In 2007, he founded the Fayoum Art Center, fostering artistic exchange and supporting emerging artists in Egypt.

At auction, Mohammad Abla’s paintings have appeared at reputable houses such as Sotheby’s and Christie’s, with notable sales reflecting growing international interest in contemporary Egyptian art. His pieces are held in several public and private collections, affirming his position as a leading figure in the postmodern Egyptian art movement.
