Lebanon

Mohamed AlRawas (محمد الرواس), born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1951, is a prominent contemporary Lebanese artist known for his innovative approach to painting, mixed media, and printmaking. AlRawas’s work is characterized by a dynamic interplay of figuration and abstraction, often incorporating elements of collage, architectural motifs, and references to art history and popular culture. His distinctive visual language reflects both personal narratives and broader socio-political themes, positioning him as a significant figure in the postwar Lebanese art scene.

AlRawas has exhibited widely in major institutions and international biennials, including the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris and the Sharjah Biennial. His works have been featured in significant group and solo exhibitions at the Beirut Art Center and Sursock Museum, underscoring his influence within the Lebanese and Arab art worlds.
