About the work

A winged bird-headed figure drawn from ancient Mesopotamian iconography reaches toward a large round fruit, rendered in warm ochres and terracotta tones with a decorative geometric border crowning the composition. Iraq

Milad Hamed is an Iraqi fashion designer renowned for his innovative approach to traditional attire. As a visual artist, he integrates his painting skills into fashion design, creating unique pieces that blend historical motifs with contemporary aesthetics. Hamed emphasizes the importance of preserving Iraq's diverse cultural heritage through his work, aiming to document and revitalize traditional garments to prevent their loss over time.

In 2013, Hamed founded the private fashion troupe "Dunyazad" to address the lack of specialized fashion houses in Iraq. He selected talented individuals from the College of Fine Arts' design department to form this group, which has since gained recognition in both Iraqi and Arab media. The troupe was honored as the best fashion house in Iraq and participated in events such as Baghdad's designation as the Arab Capital of Culture.

Hamed's dedication to fashion education led him to establish a fashion institute under the Iraqi Fashion House, where he mentors aspiring designers. In 2016, he organized the inaugural "Iraq Fashion and Beauty" festival in Baghdad, bringing together over 200 participants, including designers, models, and stylists, to showcase the country's vibrant fashion scene.
