Majida Nasr Al Deen

Lebanon

Majida Nasreddine is a Lebanese visual artist known for her abstract and expressive works that often explore themes of human experience and emotion. Born and raised in Lebanon, she pursued her studies in painting and drawing at the Lebanese University, graduating in 1993. Shortly thereafter, she relocated to the United Arab Emirates, where she became an active member of the Emirates Fine Arts Society in 1994.

Nasreddine's artistic journey has been marked by a series of solo exhibitions, including her debut at the Emirates Fine Arts Society in 1995, followed by shows at the Sharjah Art Museum and Galleria Corner Café in 2004. Her participation in group exhibitions is extensive, featuring in the Sharjah Biennial in 1995, 1997, and 1999, as well as international venues in Paris and Cairo. In 2012, she returned to Beirut to present her fourth solo exhibition at the Nehru Gallery, showcasing a collection that reflected her deep connection to her homeland.

Nasreddine's work is characterized by a dynamic use of color and texture, often incorporating mixed media to convey complex narratives. She has a particular affinity for depicting owls, aiming to challenge cultural superstitions and highlight the bird's beauty and wisdom. Her dedication to art extends beyond her own practice; she actively engages in workshops and educational initiatives, striving to make art more accessible and integral to everyday life.
