Laura Lozano

Spain

Laura Lozano is a Spanish artist known for her evocative acrylic paintings that delve into themes of human sexuality, solitude, and love. Her work often features the human figure, exploring these subjects with a distinctive feminine sensitivity. In addition to her painting, Lozano has an extensive background in art restoration, having worked on significant projects such as the restoration of murals by students of Joaquín Torres García at the Hospital Saint Bois and the plafond of the Teatro Solís in Montevideo.

Lozano's artistic journey has been marked by several notable exhibitions. She debuted her work at the "VI Congreso Uruguayo de Sexología" held at the Radisson Victoria Plaza Hotel in Montevideo. Her international presence includes participation in the "Athema Artegiovane 2000" collective exhibition in Fano, Italy, and a solo exhibition at the "Academia Europea di Musica ed Arti dello Spettacolo" in Rome in 2004. In 2008, she was honored with a special award at the "Oliva d’Oro" in Italy, organized by the "Arte 2000" Association. Further recognition came in 2010 when she was selected for the London Biennale during the "Semana Latinoamericana de la Cultura," where her work aligned with the theme "The Practice of Freedom," inspired by Brazilian educator Paulo Freire.

Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Lozano's passion for painting emerged early in life, leading her to pursue a largely self-taught path. Her artistic development was further enriched through studies with Eduardo Espino, Ana Salcowsky, and Rubén Barra, the latter being the former Director of the National Heritage Workshop. Lozano's dual expertise in painting and restoration has solidified her reputation in the art world, with her works held in various private and institutional collections.
