Jordan

Kamal Abu Halaweh, born in 1974 in Jordan, is a distinguished visual artist known for his expressive and emotive works. He studied art at the Institute for Fine Arts in Amman, graduating in 1992. His artistic practice spans various mediums, including acrylics and mixed media, often focusing on human figures and urban landscapes. His style is characterized by a blend of expressionism and abstraction, capturing the complexities of contemporary life.

Abu Halaweh has held numerous solo exhibitions, notably his ninth solo show titled "Insan" at Tallet Al-Lweibdeh Gallery in 2017, which featured around sixty paintings exploring the human condition. He has also participated in international exhibitions, such as the National Salon of Young Visual Artists in Tunisia in 2013. In 2014, he received the second prize at the annual exhibition organized by the Jordanian Plastic Artists Association in collaboration with the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts. His works are part of collections worldwide, reflecting his significant contribution to the art scene.

Beyond his artistic endeavors, Abu Halaweh has been an influential figure in Jordan's art community. He served as the president of the Jordanian Plastic Artists Association from 2018 to 2021 and founded the "Al-Lweibdeh View Gallery," a prominent art space in Amman. In 2018, he was awarded a creative sabbatical by the Ministry of Culture, recognizing his contributions to the arts. His dedication extends to mentoring emerging artists and organizing workshops, fostering the growth of Jordan's artistic landscape.
