Iraq

Ziyad Jassam, born in Iraq in 1974, is a painter and installation artist known for his evocative works that often reflect on environmental and social themes. He completed his studies at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad and later at the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad in 2000. Jassam has held several solo exhibitions, including "Four in Dialogue" at Hawar Gallery in Baghdad in 2012, "Moment of Love" at Le Scribe l'Harmattan Gallery in Paris in 2015, and "The River Bottom" at the French Institute in Baghdad in 2023. His installation piece "Life is a Book," showcased at the Baghdad International Book Fair in 2021, garnered significant attention for its profound commentary on the intersection of literature and life. Jassam's works are part of collections in various countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, the United States, Canada, France, Denmark, and Australia.
