Poland

Iwa Kruczkowska-Król, born on September 16, 1977, in Zabrze, Poland, is a distinguished artist specializing in painting, unique textiles, and scenography. She graduated with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in 2004, earning a degree in painting under Professor Jacek Waltoś, with an annex in unique textiles supervised by Professor Lilla Kulka. In the same year, she completed a specialization in stage design under Professor Krystyna Zachwatowicz-Wajda. Furthering her education, she pursued postgraduate studies in interior design at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice from 2011 to 2012 and obtained her PhD from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in 2017. Since then, she has been a faculty member at the Silesian University of Technology.

Kruczkowska-Król's artistic practice encompasses painting, unique textiles, and scenography. Her work often explores the relationship between humans and nature, drawing inspiration from Zen philosophy to highlight the significance of seemingly minor aspects of life. She has participated in over 30 solo exhibitions and more than 270 group exhibitions across Poland and internationally, including countries such as the USA, Ireland, England, Germany, France, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Italy, Japan, Russia, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Belgium, India, Switzerland, Albania, South Korea, Georgia, Jordan, and Turkey. Notably, her works are part of esteemed collections, including the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology in Krakow and the Galeria Bielska BWA.

Throughout her career, Kruczkowska-Król has received numerous accolades, including awards at the II Triennial of Modern Painting "Jesienne Konfrontacje" at BWA Rzeszów in 2010 and the International Drawing Festival in Zabrze the same year. She has also been honored with creative scholarships from the City of Krakow and the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship. Her works are held in various state and private collections both domestically and internationally.
