Ibrahim Abu Al Rub

Jordan, b. 1960

Ibrahim Abu Al Rub, born in 1949 in the village of Yalu near Jerusalem, is a Palestinian-Jordanian artist renowned for his expressive and large-scale works. Following the 1967 Nakba, he relocated to Jordan and later pursued formal art education in Egypt, earning a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and a Diploma in Educational Studies from Helwan University in 1976. He further obtained a Master's degree in 1982, focusing on contemporary painting in Jordan, and a Ph.D. in 1987, exploring the influence of Islamic art on contemporary Arab abstraction.

Abu Al Rub's artistic journey spans over four decades, during which he has held numerous solo and group exhibitions both locally and internationally. His work is characterized by dynamic compositions that often reflect themes of struggle and resilience, resonating with his personal experiences and cultural heritage. In 1995, he was honored with the State Appreciation Award in Fine Arts by Jordan, recognizing his significant contributions to the art scene.

In the art market, Abu Al Rub's pieces have been featured in various auctions, with realized prices ranging from $669 to $2,400, depending on the size and medium. His highest recorded auction price to date is $2,400 for a set of three untitled works sold at Albahie in 2018.
