About the work

A textured, expressively painted abstract form emerges from a deep black background, evoking the suggestion of an animal skull or creature rendered in sweeping strokes of olive green, earthy brown, and stark white. The composition is charged with raw energy, its dramatic contrasts of light and shadow lending the piece an intense, almost visceral presence.

Acrylic

A fast-drying, water-based paint developed in the twentieth century. Versatile and vivid, it can mimic oil or watercolor and suits bold, flat color — a favourite of many contemporary artists across the region.

Abstract Expressionism

A postwar movement built on spontaneous, gestural abstraction and broad fields of color, conveying feeling without recognizable subjects. Its freedom shaped many Arab modernists exploring abstraction in their own visual language.
