Iraq

Husam Abdel Mohsen, born on August 20, 1951, in Baghdad, Iraq, is a distinguished painter and academic. He completed his education at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad, earning a diploma between 1972 and 1976, followed by a Bachelor's degree from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad in 1981. He further pursued a Master's degree in plastic arts from the same institution, graduating in 1988. His early works, influenced by the socio-political climate of the 1980s, often depicted themes of destruction and human suffering, reflecting the realities of war. Throughout his career, Abdel Mohsen has participated in numerous exhibitions. Notably, he held a solo exhibition titled "A Cold Autumn" at the Tigris Hall in Baghdad in 2000. In 2015, he showcased his work in "Beirut - Baghdad ... A Message of Love" at the UNESCO Palace in Beirut, Lebanon. The following year, he presented "I, the Moon and the Rain" at Hiwar Hall in Baghdad. In 2017, his exhibition "Maqamat" was displayed at Zaman Hall in Beirut. His contributions to the art world have been recognized with awards, including the Best Work Award in 1980 at the Youth Cadres Exhibition organized by the Ministry of Youth.
