Hind Nasser

Jordan, b. 1940

Hind Nasser, born in Amman, Jordan, in 1940, is a distinguished artist whose work spans abstract and semi-abstract styles. She earned a BA in History and Political Science from Beirut College for Women (now the Lebanese American University) in 1961 and began studying painting under the renowned artist Fahrelnissa Zeid in 1976. Nasser's art is characterized by a dynamic interplay of color and form, often exploring themes of nature and human emotion through mediums such as oil, acrylic, and mixed media.

Throughout her career, Nasser has held numerous solo exhibitions, including "Manifestations" at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts in 2025, "0 Horizon" at Wadi Finan Art Gallery in 2019, and "Many Faces of an Artist" at Gallery 14 in 2017. Her work has also been showcased internationally, with exhibitions in Abu Dhabi and London. In recognition of her contributions to the arts, Nasser was awarded the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres at the rank of Chevalier in 2006.

Beyond her artistic endeavors, Nasser has played a pivotal role in advancing Jordan's cultural landscape. She founded the Jordan Arts and Crafts Center (Artisana) in 1995 and established Gallery 14. Additionally, she was a founding member of the National Music Conservatory under the Noor Al Hussein Foundation, serving as its chairperson for 15 years, and contributed to the establishment of the Jordan Museum for Archaeology.
