Hind Al Jarmi

Jordan, b. 1992

Hind Nasser, born in 1940 in Amman, Jordan, is a distinguished artist and cultural advocate. She earned a BA in History and Politics from the Beirut College for Women (now the Lebanese American University) in 1961. In 1976, Nasser began her artistic journey under the mentorship of renowned Turkish artist Fahrelnissa Zeid, developing a bold and expressive style characterized by vibrant colors and dynamic brushwork. Her works often feature organic shapes and swirling lines, capturing the essence of Jordan's diverse landscapes, from expansive deserts to the ancient city of Petra.

Beyond her artistic endeavors, Nasser has been instrumental in enriching Jordan's cultural landscape. She played a pivotal role in establishing several key institutions, including the Jordanian Association for Popular Arts and Crafts (1973 and 1996), the National Children's Society (1973), the National Music Conservatory (1983), and the Jordan Archaeological Museum. Her commitment to the arts is further exemplified by her founding of the Jordan Arts & Crafts Center (Artisana) in 1995.

Nasser's artwork has been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions both locally and internationally. Notable solo exhibitions include "0 Horizon" at Wadi Finan Art Gallery in Amman (2019) and her participation as the main artist at Art Dubai (2018). Her contributions to the art world have solidified her reputation as a leading figure in Jordanian art, blending cultural motifs with abstract expressionism to create evocative and timeless pieces.
