Hend Elfalafely

Egypt, b. 1979

Hend El Falafly, born on December 28, 1979, in Cairo, Egypt, is a distinguished visual artist specializing in graphic arts. She earned her Bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Helwan University in 2001, followed by a Master's degree focusing on 19th-century English art movements and their impact on graphic art. Her doctoral research provided a graphic interpretation of the novel "La Anam" ("I Do Not Sleep"). El Falafly currently serves as a professor in the Graphic Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Zamalek.

El Falafly's artistic oeuvre is characterized by a profound exploration of the female form, delving into themes of emotion, societal constraints, and personal introspection. Her work often merges classical drawing techniques with contemporary elements, employing a palette that ranges from monochromatic to vibrant hues to convey complex narratives. Notable solo exhibitions include "Seven Sins" at Artsawa in Dubai (2014), "Silence of Tunes" at Safarkhan Art Gallery in Cairo (2013), and "Senses & Sensibilities" at Artsawa in Dubai (2012). In 2025, she participated in the "Taro" exhibition at Cairo Gallery, presenting works that reflect on human introspection and transformation.

Throughout her career, El Falafly has received numerous accolades, including the State Encouragement Award in 2020. Her contributions to the art world have been recognized by institutions such as the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Culture, and the Cairo Atelier. Her works are part of esteemed collections, including the Dubai Collection, underscoring her significant impact on contemporary art.
