Egypt, b. 1970

Haytham Abdelhafeez, born in Dayrout, Assiut Governorate, Egypt, is a distinguished visual artist known for his evocative portrayals of the human condition. His early education took place at the Sacred Heart schools in Kaduna, Nigeria, before he returned to Egypt to complete his secondary education at Dayrout Military School. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with a focus on graphics from Al Minia University in 1993, followed by a Master's degree in 2000, and a PhD in Art Philosophy from the same institution in 2013.

Abdelhafeez's artistic journey is marked by a deep exploration of human emotions and societal themes. His 2021 solo exhibition, "6×9," held at Samah Art Gallery in Cairo, delved into the complexities of contemporary portraiture, presenting faces that reflect profound introspection and the nuanced interplay between individual identity and collective experience. In 2022, his exhibition "Azahiri" at Ubuntu Art Gallery in Cairo further showcased his ability to intertwine symbolic elements, such as flowers, to convey messages of love and mutual respect.

Throughout his career, Abdelhafeez has participated in numerous group exhibitions both locally and internationally, earning accolades such as the first prize at the 17th Youth Salon in 2005 and the Salon's award at the Small Artworks Salon in 1998. His works are held in esteemed collections, including the Modern Art Museum and the Fine Arts Sector in Egypt, as well as by private collectors across countries like Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Germany.
