Gehan Seoude

Egypt

Gehan Seoude is a contemporary Egyptian painter known for her vivid expressionist works that capture the female form, blending European and Egyptian artistic styles. Initially focusing on landscapes and natural themes, her practice evolved to explore pharaonic aspects of Egyptian heritage, eventually adopting a more personal approach centered on contemporary portraiture and the female form. Her acrylic paintings, heavily influenced by European expressionist traditions, are deeply rooted in Egyptian identity, with a palette that theatrically complements the drama in her compositions.

Seoude holds a Bachelor of Education from Helwan University and pursued additional studies in oil painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Zamalek, as well as art criticism at the Academy of Arts in El Haram. A member of the Syndicate of Fine Arts, she has exhibited extensively since graduating in 2002, showcasing her work in workshops and solo and group exhibitions throughout Egypt and abroad.

Notable solo exhibitions include "مشاهد ريفية" (Rural Scenes) at Atelier Cairo in 2002, "فرشاة تمطر مصريات" (A Brush Raining Egyptians) at Atelier Cairo in 2009, "ميراث ثقيل" (Heavy Heritage) at El Sawy Culturewheel in 2010, "إنها إيزيس" (She is Isis) at the Round Hall of the Syndicate of Fine Artists in 2014, "مكعب سكر" (Sugar Cube) at Cordoba Gallery in 2019, and "الحفلة" (The Party) at Art Corner Gallery in 2019.
