Fil Delacruz

Philippine, b. 1950

Fil Delacruz (b. 1950, Philippines) is a prominent Filipino visual artist renowned for his mastery in printmaking, particularly mezzotint, as well as painting and mural work. Delacruz is celebrated for his intricate, dreamlike compositions that often draw upon Philippine folklore, indigenous motifs, and personal symbolism. His technical prowess in mezzotint has set a benchmark in the field, earning him recognition both in his home country and internationally.

Delacruz has exhibited extensively, with notable institutional shows at the Cultural Center of the Philippines and the Metropolitan Museum of Manila. His works have also been featured in international exhibitions, including the International Biennial of Graphic Arts in Ljubljana and the Tokyo International Mini-Print Triennial. As a testament to his influence in the Philippine art scene, Delacruz has served as a mentor to younger generations of artists and has been involved with the Philippine Association of Printmakers.

In the auction market, Fil Delacruz’s works have appeared at major houses such as Sotheby’s and Christie’s, reflecting his stature among collectors of Southeast Asian contemporary art. His pieces, particularly his mezzotints and mixed media works, have achieved strong results, underscoring his enduring appeal and the growing interest in Philippine modern and contemporary art.
