Iraq, b. 1976

Falah Al Saeedi, born in 1976 in Babil, Iraq, is a distinguished artist known for his expressive abstract style that intricately blends elements of reality and fantasy. He began painting at the age of eight, and his exceptional talent led him to attend the Iraqi Institute of Art during his after-school hours. He graduated with honors from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad in 1999. Al Saeedi was an active member of the Iraqi Artist Union and the Society of Iraqi Plastic Artists. In 1990, he participated in the Festival of Arab Cooperation Council.

Al Saeedi's work is characterized by a unique ability to transform reality, with all its contradictions, into harmonious compositions on canvas. His paintings often depict scenes from daily life in Iraq, reimagined through a blend of realism and fantasy, employing a narrative language and an expressive abstract style. His art reflects a deep connection to his cultural heritage, drawing from a rich visual legacy closely tied to Iraqi landscapes and traditions.

Throughout his career, Al Saeedi has held numerous solo exhibitions, including shows at the Hall of the Institute of Fine Arts in 1995 and 1998, and later in Amman, Jordan, where he relocated in 2004. His work has been showcased across the Middle East, from Dubai to Qatar. In 2013, he moved to the United States, where he continues to create and exhibit his art. Notably, in 2021, the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara in Doha presented a virtual exhibition titled "Prism," featuring over 20 of his paintings executed in oil on canvas.
