Faisal Samra

Saudi Arabia

Faisal Samra, born in 1956 in Bahrain to Saudi parents, is a pioneering conceptual artist in the Middle East. He employs a diverse range of mediums, including digital photography, painting, sculpture, video, and performance, to explore existential themes centered around the human figure. His work is characterized by spontaneity, dynamism, and secrecy, challenging conventional artistic representations.

Samra studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, graduating in 1980. He has held solo exhibitions at institutions such as the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris and Ayyam Gallery in Dubai and Jeddah. His works are part of collections at The British Museum in London and Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha.

In the art market, Samra's works have been auctioned multiple times, with notable results achieved at international auction houses.
