Bashar Alhroob

Palestine, b. 1978

Bashar Alhroob (بشار الحروب), born in 1978 in Palestine, is a contemporary visual artist recognized for his evocative explorations of identity, memory, and the Palestinian experience. Working primarily in painting, photography, and mixed media, Alhroob’s practice often delves into themes of displacement and the complexities of place, employing layered imagery and symbolic motifs to evoke both personal and collective narratives. His works are marked by a distinctive use of color and abstraction, reflecting the tensions and aspirations inherent in his homeland.

Alhroob has exhibited widely in reputable institutions across the Middle East and internationally. Notable exhibitions include solo and group shows at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, the Alexandria Biennale in Egypt, and the Sharjah Art Museum in the United Arab Emirates. His art has also been featured at the Palestinian Museum and in key contemporary art events that highlight voices from the region. In addition to institutional recognition, Alhroob’s works have appeared in major auction houses such as Christie’s, underscoring his presence in the global art market and the growing interest in contemporary Palestinian art. Bashar Alhroob continues to live and work between Palestine and other international art centers, contributing significantly to the discourse on art and identity in the Arab world.
