Baqer Alsheikh — Oil on Canvas, 90 × 120 cm (representative image)
Baqer Alsheikh

Iraq, b. 1975

Baqer Al-Shaikh is an Iraqi artist known for his highly textured paintings, predominantly featuring nudes imbued with a pervasive mystique. His works often exhibit a somber palette, with figures that seamlessly blend into their backgrounds, blurring the lines between the corporeal and metaphysical. Faces are rarely depicted, enhancing the enigmatic quality of his art. ([daralanda.com](https://daralanda.com/artists/baqer-alshaikh?utm_source=openai))

Born in Baghdad, Iraq, Al-Shaikh holds a Diploma in Fine Arts from the Fine Arts Institute of Baghdad. He is a member of several artist associations and has received numerous awards, including the Al-Wasti Festival of Baghdad Award and the 2008 Ashtar Festival Award from the Iraqi Artists Association. His exhibition history includes group shows in Lebanon, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, as well as solo exhibitions in Jordan and Lebanon.
