Bahram Hajo

Syria, b. 1952

Bahram Hajou (also spelled Bahram Hajo), born in 1952 in Amuda, Syria, is a contemporary artist recognized for his expressive figurative paintings. After relocating to Germany in the 1970s, Hajou studied at the Kunstakademie Münster, where he developed a distinctive style characterized by abstracted human forms, bold color palettes, and emotive brushwork. His work often explores themes of identity, displacement, and the human condition, reflecting both his Syrian heritage and his experiences in Europe.

Hajou’s paintings have been exhibited in reputable institutions and galleries across Europe, including solo and group shows in Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. Notably, his works have been featured at the Kunstverein Münsterland and the Museum Bochum, underscoring his standing within the European contemporary art scene. In the secondary market, Bahram Hajou’s paintings have appeared at major auction houses such as Sotheby’s and Bonhams, where they have attracted attention from collectors interested in Middle Eastern and diaspora artists. His continued presence in both institutional exhibitions and international auctions highlights his significance as a Syrian-born artist with a global perspective.
