Amani Zahran

Egypt, b. 1970

Amani Zahran, born on December 3, 1970, in Cairo, Egypt, is a distinguished visual artist and press illustrator. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Painting Department, at Helwan University in 1993, followed by a diploma from the High Institute of Critique at the Arts Academy in 1995. Zahran's artistic repertoire spans oil and acrylic paintings, photoblock prints, and press illustrations that vividly depict Egyptian society.

Throughout her career, Zahran has showcased her work in numerous solo exhibitions, including shows at the Vanzillien Cultural Center in Zamalek (1994), Cairo Atelier (1996, 1998, 2001), and Arabesque Gallery of Arts (2002, 2003). In 2016, she presented "Hala" ("State") at the Salah Taher Gallery in the Cairo Opera House, featuring 50 diverse works reflecting various facets of Egyptian life. In December 2023, she held a retrospective exhibition titled "Three Decades" at the same venue, displaying over 50 pieces that encapsulate her artistic journey.

In addition to her artistic endeavors, Zahran has contributed significantly to the press industry. She served as a painter for Rosalyoussef and Sabah Al-Kheir magazines from 1994 to 1997 and has been a press illustrator for Al-Ahram's Alaa Dien magazine since 1993. Currently, she holds the position of Director of the Art Collection Department at Al-Ahram Institution. Zahran is an active member of the Journalists Syndicate, the Syndicate of Fine Artists, the Association of Al-Ghury Artists, and the Cairo Atelier of Artists and Writers.
