Ahmad Shaweesh

Jordan, b. 1934–2017

Ahmad Shaweesh, born in Amman in 1970, is a prominent Jordanian artist known for his exploration of movement and stillness through a blend of realism and abstraction. He earned his Master of Fine Arts from Yarmouk University in 2007 and currently serves as a professor at Zarqa University's Faculty of Arts. Shaweesh has showcased his work in numerous local and international exhibitions. Notably, his solo exhibition "Voices of the Reef: Season 1" was held at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts from November 1 to December 12, 2024. This exhibition delved into themes of movement and stillness, reflecting on contrasts such as silence and sound, life and death, through a series of works transitioning from realism to abstraction. In addition to his artistic endeavors, Shaweesh is an active member of the Jordanian Artists Association and the founder of Studio 11.
