Ahmad Nawar (أحمد نوار), born in 1945 in Egypt, is a prominent contemporary artist recognized for his significant contributions to modern Egyptian art. Nawar’s practice spans painting, graphic arts, and mixed media, often exploring themes of heritage, identity, and the intersection of tradition with modernity. His works are characterized by a dynamic use of color and form, reflecting both abstract and figurative tendencies, and he is noted for integrating elements of Egyptian visual culture into his compositions.

Nawar has exhibited extensively in Egypt and internationally, with notable institutional exhibitions at the Cairo Opera House and the Egyptian Academy in Rome. He has also participated in major biennials and collective shows, including the Venice Biennale, representing Egypt. His works are held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Egyptian Art in Cairo and have been featured in exhibitions organized by the Ministry of Culture. In addition to his artistic practice, Nawar has played a significant role in the Egyptian art scene as an educator and cultural leader, serving as the director of the Fine Arts Sector at the Ministry of Culture.
