Abdul Wahab Abdel Mohsen

Egypt, b. 1951

Abdul Wahab Abdel Mohsen (عبد الوهاب عبد المحسن), born in 1951 in Egypt, is a prominent contemporary artist recognized for his contributions to printmaking, painting, and mixed media. A graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Alexandria, Abdel Mohsen has developed a distinctive visual language that merges abstraction with references to Egyptian heritage and landscape. His works often explore themes of memory, identity, and the interplay between tradition and modernity, utilizing a variety of techniques including etching, lithography, and collage.

Abdel Mohsen has exhibited extensively in Egypt and internationally, with notable institutional exhibitions at the Cairo Opera House, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and participation in the International Print Triennial in Krakow, Poland. His art has also been featured in group shows at the Egyptian Academy in Rome and the Sharjah Biennial, underscoring his standing within the regional art scene. While his works have appeared in reputable regional auctions, there is no verified record of sales at major international auction houses such as Christie’s, Sotheby’s, or Bonhams to date. Abdel Mohsen remains an influential figure in Egyptian contemporary art, both as an artist and as a mentor to younger generations.
